We
were glad that when 1999 started Linda was able to go back
to teaching her third grade class at Garden Road School.
She was recovering from her surgery in October of '98, and
finished out the rest of the '98-'99 school year with
flying colors. (She loves teaching those kids!) This year
Linda has taken a job at the School District's office as a
teacher who teaches other teachers how to use technology
to meet the curriculum standards. She's learning a lot,
but misses having a classroom full of kids. By the way, we
were all excited and thankful that her checkups and annual
CAT scan didn't
find any trace of cancer this year.
During
one weekend in July we all had a lot of fun boating and
jet-skiing on Lake Havasu with Linda's brother's family.
(Thanks, Dusty, Judy and Bret!) Here's Kara kicking up
some spray at high speeds. It feels good, especially when
the air temperature is 110° plus!
Our
kids give us a lot of fun as you will probably be able to
tell when you read their own pages on this web site. We
enjoy their wonderful abilities and crazy antics. Josh is
22, Kara just turned 20 and Amy is our new teenager at
13 years old! They had tons of fun together when
Kara was home this summer...including a trip Josh and Kara
took to watch the Padres play in Anaheim. Not only
do our kids have fun, but they seem to attract other
fun-loving young people too. Our house was full of college
and high school kids every night last summer and many of
the nights this fall too. (They teach Amy how to stay up
late and stuff like that.) Oh, and the kitchen
always looks a little different when we get up than it
does when
we go to bed!
October
brought some sad news when we learned that our beloved
Grandpa Foote (Evan's dad) died suddenly of a heart
attack. We all miss him but are grateful for the
awesome heritage he gave us and know we'll all meet
again someday.
October
had some fun days too as our whole family was able
to fly back to attend the "Family Weekend" at
Wheaton College. We had a great time both on campus and
off. On Saturday we were privileged to have a tour of
downtown Chicago, led by Kara and her roommate
Katie. It was a wild adventure, especially the
parking which was a nightmare. We finally found a
parking garage under one of the high rise buildings.
After taking the elevator to the ground level and exiting
onto the street we turned around to see where we were so
we could find our car again and noticed we had parked in
the Playboy Enterprises building!
Katie
and Kara said we had to visit the FAO Swartz toy store and
they were right because it was tons of fun! Katy, Kara and
Amy especially enjoyed putting on the Hollywood gear
in the dress up section and entertaining all of
us. We had lots of laughs!
As we stand at the dawn of a new millennium our prayer is
for you and those you love to fully experience all of the
peace, love, joy, and hope that God first sent to us 2000
years ago in a little Bethlehem stable.
We are
so grateful for you, our friends and all the ways you
bless our lives. May God fill each of us with love
and joy and lead us to lift up, encourage, bless, and
challenge all those we meet in this new millennium to
choose His path of peace.
Love,
Evan, Linda, Josh, Kara, and Amy Foote
