Happy New Year!
Chris finished his fourth year of medical school
and graduated in May of this year. We had lots
of family and friends that came into town to
help us celebrate – including a picnic and
softball game at a nearby park.

Yes, it's official! He is now
Dr. Chris Ebersole.

(Chris' family at his graduation: Grandma and
Grandpa Ebersole, Melody, Russ, Nate, Stephen,
Chris, Kara, and Sara)

Would you believe Chris' med school handed out
transcripts with their diplomas? Chris'
dad and grandpa had a lot of fun checking out
every grade. Whew! All that studying paid
off!

I finished a year of research with the
Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology department
at Loyola. We
both started our residencies in July of this
year. Chris started a radiology program at St.
James Hospital in Olympia Fields. It’s a five
year program. The first year is a traditional
rotating internship. So, for this year he is
still doing several different things including
family practice, internal medicine, surgery,
pediatrics, OB/gyn, etc. Starting next year he
will begin four years of just radiology training
(still rotating between CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional
radiology, etc.).
I started my pediatrics training in July at
Loyola’s Ronald McDonald’s Children’s Hospital.
It’s a three year program. I have already spent
time rotating through the newborn nursery,
neonatal ICU, pediatric ER, pediatric GI and the
inpatient ward.

Chris and I enjoyed having his family near us in
Wheaton for the beginning of this year. They
finished their first year of furlough in the
states and returned to Togo, West Africa late in
the summer. These are a few pictures of Chris
and his siblings hanging out together (Sara,
Stephen and Nate; Daniel was absent as he is
studying in North Carolina to be a missionary
pilot).

Since starting residency, we’ve kept very busy.
We greatly appreciate sleep and the few days off
that we have together. The Foote family came out
to Chicago this year to celebrate Thanksgiving
with us. Daniel also flew up from North Carolina
to celebrate with us.

For Christmas, we were very lucky to have four
days off together. Chris and I were able to fly
out to San Diego for a few days to visit family
and celebrate a warm, sunny Christmas. Amy and I
even tried making "sand angels instead of snow
angels" on a quick trip to the beach on
Christmas Eve.
Thanks for visiting our page. We’ll see you
again next year!
