This
has been a year to remember, filled with fun times, travels,
and family adventures. When Kara came home from college in
May, we all joined Linda at a conference in Anaheim and paid
our first visit to Disneyland's California Adventure. The
following week we helped celebrate Evan's mom's 80th
birthday. Of course Evan and Linda have birthdays in May
too, but they're not telling their ages. (Hint: next year is
a big one for Linda!)
Before
May was through, Kara left for Honduras where she spent six
months working in a Medical Clinic supported by the Luke
Society. Check out her page for more information on her
trip.
In
June we took Linda's dad on a trip to Kansas for a Beeding
family reunion of sorts as we celebrated Clyde's cousin,
Arvada and her husband's 50th Anniversary. Clyde showed us
his birthplace in Parker, KS, and his boyhood town of Gas
City, Kansas. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get
to know Linda's dad on this trip. (What's going on in the
cornfields?)
At the
end of June, Linda's CT Scan showed a new tumor in her lung.
It is very tiny, only 5 mm, making it too small to biopsy.
So, we are on a new schedule to observe it as doctors try to
determine if it is a recurrence of the cancer or a benign
tumor. The September CT Scan showed it hadn't grown at all,
which was good news. The next scan will be Jan. 7th. We'd be
grateful for your prayers that it would not grow...and even
disappear.
Our
family vacation in August included our first trip to Hume
Lake Christian Camp. We had a great time and even ran into
several friends and colleagues from Poway, which surprised
us, but made the week extra-special.
In
September, Evan had the exciting privilege of performing the
wedding of his niece, Darcy and her new husband, Eric. It
was a beautiful wedding. We're so excited that they've
settled in the San Diego area because now we actually have
family living nearby for the first time since we moved here
24 years ago!
We are
all grateful for another special year and all the
opportunities we've had to share the joys and challenges of
life with so many special friends. Of course we are
especially aware of all the hurts and grief that people
across our nation and around the world have faced this year
and our hearts and prayers are with them. We pray that
together we might all be a part of bringing true peace,
love, and grace to our world.
Grace and
Peace to All of You. |
