It has been a great year so far. While visiting my sister Kara, who goes to Wheaton College in Illinois, my father and I snuck into a sold-out Chicago Bears game.  Soldier Field has a couple of security guards that go soft in the fourth quarter.

Chicago was a lot of fun.  I got to see another work of art by one of my favorite artists (Roy Lichtenstein) at the Chicago Art Institute.  The Art Institute there is amazing!  It is very large and has some pretty famous paintings by some pretty famous painters. (The color isn't very good in this photograph because we weren't allowed to use flash photography.)

For our summer vacation we traveled up the California coast.  It was a lot of fun.  I read Cannery Row by John Steinbeck while visiting the actual setting in the Cannery Row area of Monterey.  That was pretty interesting.  I also got to try out a few new looks at the aquarium in Monterey.  Which one do you like better?  The penguin or the ray?  It's a toss up.  One thing I do know is that I sure wish I had bought that penguin hat when I had the chance.  Oh well, that's just one more reason I wouldn't mind visiting some of our vacation spots again.

Well, I think Amy, Kara, Rick and I make a pretty mean coral reef gang.

I am still working my way through college and working at a local elementary school.  One of my new adventures this year was participating in poetry slams here in San Diego.  I have competed in two so far and was excited to take 5th place each time.

I have been attending 2 weekly College Bible studies and have been privileged enough to lead the worship for both of them, which has been fun but a little intimidating.  You can come check one out if you want.  (Tuesday nights.  Call 487-7312 for info.)

Well, have a great holiday season!

Josh
